Brook Trout crash course for early Aug?

Hey all,

Heading up north fishing in August. There's a lake in the same area I'm going that has stocked brook trout every year. I have never caught brook trout before and it looks like it might be fun to try my hand at it.

How would you target brook trout in a lake in early August? Just troll a small spinner? OK to put a splitshot in front of it? How line shy are brookies? (I plan on having a 6lb and 10lb reel, do I need lighter tackle for brook trout?)

The max. depth of the lake is 58 feet deep. Are brook trout like lakers where they go super deep late in summer?

In pictures/videos, it looks like some anglers keep pretty small trout. What is considered an acceptable size at which to keep them?

Try snap weights with a 5' length of line to the lure and slow troll. Locate fish with electronics and match the weight and speed. Small stickbaits, spoons and spinners all work. Rebel, Cicada, Creek Caster, and Little Cleos are my favorite. Bring a net!
