Line for topwater fishing?

I recently started fishing topwaters for bass (devil's horse, frogs, buzz bait.) I am wader fishing and using a 6'6" medium rod with a baitcaster. Fishing mostly over submergent weeds and no real heavy cover such as timber. What would you guys suggest for a braid or mono (brand and #test) for this type fishing?

I use 14lb Fireline for open water with poppers, spooks, and prop baits. When I'm around pads, reeds, rice, and maidencane I go to 40lb Powerpro with toads and hollow body frogs.

if not fishing heavy cover you shouldn't have to go any heavier than 20 for sure. I like braid cause it casts easier and doesn't sink as much as fluoro. fireline or power pro in 14-20 should do you just fine

If you want to go mono I'd go with Trilene 20lb. Big Game. Cheaper than braid and floats nice as well.
