Denver area trout fishing?

Recommended Posts

I may be visiting family in a couple of weeks. Im thinking of bringing my rods for some trout action. Looking to get into some trout that will put up a good fight. Can someone from the area recommend a lake/stream or two that i can try? Hows the bite this time of the year.? Not looking for hot spots, just recommendations. PM if you'd like to.

Thanks

I live an hour south of Denver in Colo Springs but you should be able to find some good water to fish. I have never fished up in Denver before but the South Platte runs right through town for some good multi-species action. Fishing in the streams has been good down here, I've heard some nearby Denver reservoirs giving up some real nice Walleye (25+) this spring/early summer and a decent night bite going around. I wish I had more specifics for you. I will send a link to your PM for some local waters and some tips.

Since you are around Denver, you are near the front range. Now, within the huge mountain range are many many mountain lakes full of trout ready to be caught. They stock the lakes with keeper size trout (around 10 inches to start).

I would suggest a google search with good search logic, call bait shops, or even use Google Earth and find something nice.

Hope this helps
