Rochester area goose hunting

Anyone been doing any goose hunting yet in the Rochester area? If so many birds down there yet/ how have you done?

I live about fifteen miles north of Rochester and also work in Roch.I really haven't seen many flocks flying yet. Usually when they start up it's very noticable.I work about a half of a mile from the north line, and I don't even think the guide services have started bringing people out yet.

Not much for birds here yet......most of the crop is still standing......give it another two weeks and it should be good about anywhere around here

The beans just went off "Hamburger Hill" this weekend... hunted today for the first time.... successfully I might add. Things usually kick in pretty good by mid to late October.

Just took a look out the back door from work and I hear the honk honk honk in the sky. They're starting to fly now. I saw a couple of small flocks going out over 55th street. I don't know--is Hamburger Hill the area by 55th street and 18th ave. Because thats the way they were flying.

Quite a few geese staging on the SW side of Roch. Although most of them are refuge bound, there were a handful of flocks breaking the line and working out towards the Salem Corners area (yesterday).

Geese are starting to roll in pretty good the last few days. It actually may turn out to be a dang good weekend if you can find a picked field!! The birds ain't too smart right now!

Reports from H.HIll have been outstanding the last 3 mornings.

wait until you hear about the first snowfall when it sticks to the ground and head to a field. the snow mixes them up and you will have a veery good day in the field.

OK - I'll bite. Where is "Hamburger Hill"? Thats a new

one on me. How did it get its name?

"Hamburger Hill" is a field located NE of the intersection of 18th Av and 55th St. It used to be known as simply "The North Field," but the success rate has been so intense over the last few years that the guys (we call ourselves "goosegrinders") started referring to it as Hamburger Hill! I know, I know, it's sorta krewl and all... but boys will be boys!
