Sending Units

Recommended Posts

They make "universal" kits.. that if you're lucky involve popping the float off the old sender and onto the new sender, and if you're unlucky, bend the wire to make the correct geometry / length float.

Either way.. it's not a difficult project.. just requires a little thinking.

If you're sure it's the sender run with it.. I looked at your prior post.. but don't quite understand your setup. I'm guessing you have two senders? How is the switch setup? Is it a 2 position switch, showing which tank you're reading from, or? Understanding the setup would help you troubleshoot a bit.

Can you elaborate more on your nav light issues?

Yes I have 2 fuel tanks (21gal) and they both have their own sending units which the wires from them run to a toggle style switch that is a 2 position switch for 1 fuel gage.

As far as the NAV lights go they just don't work. I tried the light fixtures on someone else's boat and those work.

I bought the part that those fixtures slide into and tried those out and that didn't make a difference. So I'm guessing I have to run some new wires and go from there.

This panel with all the switches is just a mess trying to figure out where wires go. I have found wires that are not connected and I always wonder if they should be. That's what happens when your the 3rd owner of a boat I guess.

BAH!!!!
