kerryd15
While leaving the land today an alarm started to sound from my side consel shifter. It is a continous sounding beep. I don't have an owner manual but do have the parts manual. It looks like this could be 2 different alarms. Low oil or engine overheat. When I got home I hooked up the muffs to do some testing. Motor had not been ran for over an hour. As soon as I turn the key I get the normal beep then the alarm. I was trying to get the oil down to change brands. There was still quarter tank or so. I disconnected the 2 blue wire from the oil tank, turn key, still have alarm. When these wires are disconnected the alarm should go off if the oil level sensor is bad. Correct? If I unhook the tan/blue wire I lose the alarm. I also lose the initial beep when I turn the key. I am assuming It is the temp sensor? I have good water flow at the tell tale. Anything else i should check. thanks
tlbigstump
That engine probably has a warning module that is bad. Unhook the temp switch from it and if you turn the key on and still get alarm, thats your bad part, if horn goes away after unhooking temp switch, the switch is bad. boatfixer
+1The temp will be the tan wires. The sender is located at top/back of the block
kerryd15
Did the temp switch test- no continuity when cold. I can unhook the light blue wires- still have alarm. I can unhook the tan and spiral blue wire from temp sensor- still have alarm. On the tan blue there is another tan only wire that goes into the harness, unhook that no alarm. Could this be a ground issue? Any other tests I should look into? thank you.
boatfixer
The tan that goes into the harness is likely the one that runs up to the control box where the warning horn is. Disconnecting that will only silence the horn because its like unplugging a speaker. Just as stump said earlier, you may have a faulty module. If you've disconnected the oil and the temp senders and still have the alarm that leaves only the module
