Removing Cement Floor Paint ?

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of remodeling my basement. One room that I plan to use for storage has old yellow paint that is flaking from the cement floor. I would like to remove the yellow completely and put down a new cement floor coating. Any suggestions to removal as some spots are still adhered to the cement rather well or just scrape away until it is done?

The right way is to call a epoxy guy to at least strip it for you.Other then that liquid stripper will getyou pretty high and the fact that your in a basement it can be more harmful. If you scrape it make sure you sand too.I would put a cement floor primer on first if your in that much trouble. If you don't get it all off ,just count on it peeling again in 2 or 3 yrs.The EPA has taken out a lot of the harmful voc in paint products so cheap stuff won't hold.Real epoxy cost some money.Get a pro to strip it if you got the money to spend
