1997 fish hawk 1750. I assume these are on the same circuit. I have a test light, but suck at electrical. I have power and ground at the switch. Should I test down by the units themselves next? Where are the grounds located if I wanted to check those. Some advice on what steps to take next would be helpful, thanks!

Not working as not pumping water or not even humming? Do you have an extra wire at the battery you forgot to hookup? Check all fuses in the lines. If they both worked last season what changed? Wires got pulled? mice chewed on them? Check the connecters at the fuse panel under the dash if you have one.

Well, the grounds have to be coming off the units themselves. smile In the past I had this happen, checked everything, power, ground, battery conections, etc. Come to find out that both the fins in the two units were locked up. Gave them both a tap with a small mallet and whalla. Must have not gotten all of the water out and corroded the shaft in there. This was years ago where my boat at the time was stored outside for the winter. Test the power off the wire from the pump, best to find one of those peirce wire testers.

If you ever spent time on bigger water, while you are back there, you might consider putting another bilge pump in. IF you ever NEED a bilge pump, truly one is not going to help.

I found that when I took a wake from a huge crusier over the transome, while beeched, and we have a 18' foot boat. It took a LONG time to pump it all out with a 750 gph pump. We put another in while we were repairing a livewell pump, as it is hard to get at our bilge, so what the heck, slap one in. We route the hose out into the spalsh well, with enough length that if we needed we could just toss it over the transom.

Anyway, maybe not a consideration if not on bigger water, but after seeing how water can come in quick, and after a bro-in-law had a big crack in his glass boat (he didn't have keel guard and after years of beaching it wore out) one pump is like peeing in the ocean, literally wink

Good luck!
