Delta Waterfowl Lake Superior Chapter

Recommended Posts

To All Waterfowl Enthusiasts-

I just wanted to make everyone aware that we are currently in the very preliminary stages of re-vamping the Lake Superior Delta Waterfowl Chapter. I have been in recent contact with Adam Benker, the Regional Delta Waterfowl director of the Upper Mississippi Flyway and will be meeting with him in the beginning of JUNE.

Before this meeting I would like to extend the offer to those who believe in Conservation of waterfowl habitat, and the surrounding lakes, rivers, to get in contact with me to help create a strong foundation. There is no money involved, or "ploy". This is going to be a round table of everyone throwing ideas in, to help better the waterfowl habitat around this area. This will also be chapter who will strongly encouraging New people interested in waterfowl hunting to gain good connections and learn! In this preliminary time, this is a no commitment deal that's on the table to everyone. Even if you have a good idea and want to pass it along with me, I would more than appreciate it! If you are interested in Delta Waterfowl and feel like you may have more to offer, I would love to talk to you. This chapter will need many hard working people who LOVE the sport. Please feel free to contact me at 218-428-2287 add me on facebook or message me on here directly. This is going to be a work in progress no doubt, but once we get the ball rolling, we can have A LOT of fun with this!

This is good stuff!! Not trying to spam you or anything, but I am just really passionate about waterfowl and aquatics...my degree being in Aquatics with a waterfowl and fisheries emphasis.

I work with landowners a lot regarding waterfowl habitat and food sources...wild rice, Sago, Celery, Shrimp, smartweed, moist soils management and flooded crop management for example. If you have any projects you want to talk over or any landowners that would like to look at options, I would be happy to work with you on them. Just let me know.

Kyle-

I know a tiny bit about aquatic vegetation, crops ect. but it would be great to learn a thing or two from someone so experienced! Do you live in Glendwood or are you living around here? Either way we'll have to keep in touch. You'd be a prime individual to help teach me as well as other's about the importance of land conservation and waterfowl!

For anyone and everyone interested in helping out with the Lake Superior Delta Waterfowl Chapter, it would be nice to all meet up and discuss current and future issues surrounding this area. I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people are around here, and we want your voices heard! Please contact me @ 218-428-2287 so we can all arrange a time and place to meet up before we have our official discussion with Adam Benker, The Mississippi Flyway regional Director.

Thank you -Shane

Anyone who would like to bring some ideas to the table we will be having a little gathering at a Duluth venue (Grizzly's, or the Reef,or Buffalo Wild Wings, Gander Mountain) Thursday @6:30 on May 30th. please let me know if you are interested in coming so i can make seating arrangements. I'd like it to be laid back and very casual, more of a meet and greet if you will.

Thanks

Ok everyone- There is going to be meeting for Delta at Gander Mountain Hermantown in the lodge at 6:00-6:30. This will be a casual meet-and-greet to help get the ball rolling and to see who would be interested in becoming one of the backbones of this chapter. No positions will be filled but it would be nice to see who is interested in getting this Chapter up and running STRONG! There will be no serious topics held at this meeting, and hopefully a lot of good waterfowl stories to be had. afterwords, it would be nice to have everyone come out and have a few cocktails!
