If it is just for updates, a 1gb card is PLENTY.

An 8gb card is plenty for waypoints.

Here's what i found with mine...that was quite disappointing.

I aquired over 1,600 waypoints (Screencaptures) over two years of usage. The unit would run terribly slow, and would freeze up when i tried to use the cursor. This all started when i began getting over 1,200 and worsened up to 1,600 where it would freeze the instant you used the cursor.

You need to have less than 1,000 (Screencaptures) on a card for your unit to work well. So, what i haven't done yet, but will do shortly is to create different lake zones for my waypoints. Like SouthCentral, St Croix, Etc... SO i can just grab the appropriate card when i go fishing. I purchased the fastest and largest card i could to try to resolve this problem. But it's simply too much info for the bird to process. I would guess the newest versions have dual processors now and this may be an old problem. But, 8gb will easily hold 1,600 waypoints and as i said, you don't want over 1000. So, plan accordingly by getting multiple cards for different area.

Don't run into anything while your starring at your screen
