B. Amish
I want to start carving my own decoys out of basswood. I plan on making ringbills. Any carvers out there that could tell me what to use for the keel. Aslo, what kind of paint works well? Are there any stores out there for carvers, or will I end up ordering everything via the internet?Any tips, techniques, designs, etc are appreciatedThanks
LABS4ME
We used a real good grade of white pine for the keels on our cork decoys... they've held up for about 20 years now. I'll try and get some names of carving supply houses for you. Good Luck! Ken
Sartell Angler
Jennings Decoy company of St. Cloud might have some supplies for carving your own decoys...think I may have seen something about it on another hunting forum. It is right off of highway 10 in east St. Cloud. If you are headed north, it will be on the left (west) side of the Hwy. about a quarter mile past the stoplight by the Copper Lantern / McDonalds east / Subway. Hope this helps.S.A.
