The Grebe
Any of you HSO'ers make it to the Special Olypics Polar Plunge up at Mille Lacs on Saturday? Our 7 member, 'Cold Feat' team did and it was quite an experience! I've been wanting to do that for years and as close as I got was falling through the ice on a few occassions...as deep as I got was up to my arm pits....once over 9 feet of water, yikes! Saturday I went in over my head (Had to duck down to do it) and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be? It happens quickly and you are up and out of there quickly. It's cold, no doubt colder for some then others, but the hot tub at the end of the walk pretty much re-regulates your temperature. I believe the worse part of the whole process was standing out in the rain/sleet/snow in shorts and a tank top, for like 15-20 minutes before the jumping began. Got er done, now I don't have to wonder about it, or do that anymore!
