cold blooded 2 cycle engines

ClownColor

Question

What makes a 2 cycle engine cold blooded? Before i list the make of the engine and everthing i've done to it, i'm curious as to what people think is the root cause. After i place this engine in a warm envirnoment, it will start almost instantly. But if its been outside in the cold, heck, sometimes it won't even start at all.

What gives?

I'll list more details as we move along as i don't want people to just jump to conclusions.

Not getting enough fuel. It takes more fuel to start in cold temps.

About bringing any engine or gas can inside.

If you bring your auger inside the gas is going to expand. Gas caps don't always vent like they should and your tank will pressurize. That pressure is pushing against the inlet valve(needle and seat) inside the carb. Eventually it'll goof up and push gas through the carb and into the crankcase or out the throat of the carb and you have a fire danger in the house. You also will get frost on the inside of the tank. I'd leave it outside but if you bring it in vent the cap once in while till the gas reaches the same temp as inside. Next, when you bring that auger outside the gas will contract and cause a vacuum in the tanks. You have to vent the cap or you'll have a real hard time getting it started.
