Guest
Water levels in Grant County were fairly good for the dry weather we've had! I hunted Grant Co. over the weekend and the water levels were obviously low, but not "dry". They got tons of rain in June, so that helped.I don't think OT county is any worse either. I've been told that water levels are at a record low, but a lot of small potholes are holding water. I have yet to see any sort of pothole "dry" to the bone....There's rain coming for most of this week, pray for rain!!! The whole state needs it bad!! Gissert
While the water levels have declined quite a bit recently, it was only last year that most lakes and potholes were at or near record high levels in the FF area. Especially those that were not connected to any kind of stream. The heavy snow years in the early to mid 1990's had left a lot of surplus moisture in the water table. We also had several years in that time period where there were big rains just prior to freeze up. In the Underwood area, I have noticed that the ground water inflow now seems to be tapering off from the last couple of years. After the dry year in 1976, the water levels were much much lower than they are now.
