Water Spaniel

Im looking at possibly getting an American water spaniel. I'm doing as much research as possible on the breed. Anyone have one or know someone with one that can give me any info.??

I.C. Do alot of homework. I've known several guys who've had them and while they were very nice dogs to use for hunting...all but 2 of them had hip dysplasia. It is VERY prevelant in that breed. I believe there is an American Water Spaniel club...do a search and you'll find the web site. Also go to some NAHRA events (retrievers incl. spaniels) or access their web site, or some AKC spaniel events (those are predominantly Springers). There was a gentleman locally who had the first NAHRA Master Hunter water spaniel...his last name escapes me right now, 1st name is Wayne...(you may see one of his ads), judged his dogs several times through the mid-nineties, good honest working dogs. I've been out of the game for several years now, so I'll have to see if I can find his name. Good Luck! Ken
