Plucking a SUV out of the river

I got to watch a SUV get yanked from Lake Onalska today. The SUV went in last Saturday, so it was froze in pretty solid. It took them 4 hours to get it out.

where this SUV was about 5 feet of water. Lucky the SUV's front end just went in as featured in the photographs.

The next series I'm about to go catch is a van that's been fully submerged for about a week. Same lake- same tournament. That is in about 9 feet of water.

Dive team has been dispatched for recovery.

During last week's Atomic Derby, there were reports of 4 confirmed and 1 unconfirmed reports of cars falling through the ice.

With super cold temperatures this week, La Crosse County Dive Unit determined it safe enough to conduct vehicle recovery operations.

We're there any injuries with all this happening? I am guessing the people in charge of the derby will be getting an ear full due to someun safe ice conditions and allowing this tourney to go on.

Last Winter it took my cousin about an hour to get this one back to dry land. He did the recovery solo. This was not his first solo recovery...
