Lake Oahe

Just wondering how far north I have to go to find fishable ice on Oahe. Also never ice fished it so any general direction or things and depths to look for would also be helpful. Thanks.

My buddy just moved up to Mobridge and he has been slaughtering the eyes up there and they have 15" of ice. That's as close to Oahe as I can give you though, sorry.

Thanks for the info. I heard they have been doing very well up there. Hopefully I will be able to find some ice without going that far north. I am planning on bringing the long rod so if nothing else, I can fish by the dam.

Friend of mine just went north of HWY 44 but thats still on Francis Case. Said they had 5 feet or so of open water from the shore but if you can get on the ice, its 12" plus. They caught 2 nice limits of eyes in 52' of water. Yes, 52 FEET of water. They backed a trailer up in the water, put the ramps on the ice and got their wheelers on that way. Not a preferred method im sure but it worked.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how the ice is around Akaska. I was hoping to take the boat out there in the next week or two. Thanks
