Any water open with waterfowl?

Haven't seen much for divers although there are some around ... I seen a pretty good number of mixed divers on Blue lake (cant hunt)next to Rice lake near Savage. I havent hunted Rice lately but it should still be accessable if you dont mind crashing thin ice (assuming). There were alot of hunters there last weekend so we relocated. Louisville was still open as of Weds the 13th with some crust near shore. The evening hunt was no good weds because of the clear skies ... more than 1000 geese passed over the lot while we were loading up the boat after shooting hours. The late morning has been the best ... early its been slow to steady ... afternoon has been hit or miss .. with more misses.

97% of birds flying are mallards ... still have a few teal around and an occasional flock of divers that are usually high and commited to land .. in Iowa.

Hunting the So. Metro and was anybody seeing any ducks on any lakes or swamps? Looking to do some bill hunting.

Thanks Fisher, After last night, I'm putting the hunting gear away, time to hit the walter's on the river while I can still float my boat. That was long waterfowl season, hunted 35 of the 48 days of the season. Add in the early season that's 3 months of hunting, I love it but, I'm burnt out, Now I'll get burnt out from fishing, open water, waiting for the "lake cabin" now

sorry to hear it's over...my dauhter and i spanked a good fork buck on opener out of that stand i got ready to go.shot a doe the next day it was a good weekend for her first time out!!Hauling up the new fish house next weekend,were making ice today!!we'll keep ya posted on the walters, talk to ya later
