HUNTER2
How are they to use? I have a Browning Gold 10 ga and a 11-87 Rem 12 ga. I was wondering if I should trade both for a Benneli 3 1/2 inch.------------------Hunt&Fish tell you drop!
Long Gray Line
I have the M1, what they use to call the Model 90 and my brother-in-law has the Super Black Eagle. The SBE is the one that comes in 3 1/2", the M1 uses up to the 3" shells. I can tell you that mine will cycle anything from the fastest mags to the lightest target loads and I've had it perfectly function on days when I had to break ice out of the vent rib. It's easy to clean and the inertial system means no ports or gaskets to maintain. It also seems to eat up a little of the recoil. My b-i-l's SBE has only shown trouble cycling some of his ultra-light re-loads. I've never seen it have trouble with a factory load. It's a bit heavier than the 90 but it breaks down for cleaning more easily. I have an 870 and wouldn't trade it for anything but the Benelli has become my all purpose pheasant/grouse/duck/goose gun. Flipnripem
Keep the 10ga. and dilh off the 12ga auto loader. My personal fav. is by far the 870 super mag. I swear this gun will shoot corn cobs some times with the junk I hunt in.
Jay R
Just Thought I would add to this thread - I shot a Benneli SBE this fall for the first time, and all I can say is WOW!!. It will handel any load without a hiccup. From the lightest trap load to the 3 1/2 heavy goose loads no problem. This is a very well balanced do everything, last a lifetime shotgun. I am sold!JR
Guest
Browning makes a good auto-loader, the Benelli is also good. ( I have the M-1). The things I consider is what does the gun feel like as i mount it, do I like the sight plane, does it fit me. My buddy loves his Benelli because of the sight plane. I still need to add a spacer between my stock and recoil pad because it is too short for me. The brand of a gun is only part of the equation. By the gun that fits you the best, and has the capability to do what you want to do with it. My 20 gauge Red Label is the gun that fits me the best, but it doesn't make much of a duck gun.... Guest
Hey what go you guys think of the new beretta extrema (3 1/2" gas operated semi auto) compared to the SBE.
ccarlson
I have the M1 super 90. I would highly recommend it if it is a gun that fits you. I believe the gun that fits you is the most important thing to look for. You could spend a lot of money on a gun that doesn't fit you and it would be a waste. That said, if I remember right, my benelli has a set of shims or something that came with it to modify the angle of the stock. Others may know more about this and be able to help. If you get a chance, shoot the gun before you buy it though. I know my shooting improved a lot after switching to the benelli not because it is a more expensive gun but because it fit me and I gained a lot of confidence when shooting it. I made the switch from shooting a 20 g. for upland and a 12 for waterfowl and that was a big step in itself as far as consistency. You know what they say, "beware the man with one gun."My brother in law has the SBE and he also has good luck with his.ccarlson
Chev_trucks501
Hi All, I LOVE BENELLI! Well I have a Benelli M1 Super 90 and a SBE. I love them both. I use my M1 for duck hunting and upland birds and the SBE for Goose (if required) and turkey. They will both cycle anything you throw at em. I will not hunt with another gun because of consistent performance with Benelli. I work in the sporting goods field and have shot almost all brands of shotguns. From 10ga's to .410's. Benelli is always at the top of my list from every one of these shoots...(I am NOT a Benelli Rep). The inertia recoil system is the best system to have come out in a shotgun. As far as gas operated systems go some are good others are bad. I don't care for Browning's and Winchesters Guns (Since they are the same company) for the reason that they like to jam. In all the field tests I have performed Browning and Winchester were the worst followed by Charles Daly, Remington, and Beretta (being 2nd best). Mind you there were other guns in the test but these are the main ones. Beretta actually performed quite well as did Remington. But Benelli takes the cake every time. Yes, Shims do come with all Benelli guns to adjust the angle of the stock to your liking. They also come with 5 chokes, wrench, oil and a hard case. One other thing I do to all my guns is I install a Competition sight from Hi-Viz. It is a small front sight that replaces the one on the gun. They are (in my opinion) the best Hi-Viz sight system available. They sell for about $30 at sporting goods stores. Well Happy Hunting
