Looking for a 410 shotgun

I know there is a buy/sell topic in the forum here as well, but I am hoping to cover more people. I have 3 boys, 1 who is ready to start shooting, and 2 waiting in the wings. I am looking for a good single shot 410 that he can use, then pass on to the others. I saw a new one at gander mountain today for $90, hoping there might be something better out there. Or is that a good deal? Don't know the brand of the gun they had.

New England Firearms (Harrington & Richardson) makes a fine 410 single shot. It is probably the $90 one you saw. It has a hammer, but with a unique design so it cannot misfire from a blow to the hammer.

It is functional, foolproof, and safe for new (careful) hunters.

I would guess its the New England 410 also. $90 is a fair price for the gun. I believe I saw a 20 guage single shot from the same company at Walmart for around $75 recently. Hard to beat $90 for a functional gun, new or used.

fyi that is what my dad did for his three kids, and let me tell you they can't wear it out or break it ( within reason ). last year for x-mas he was going to give it to one of us but, insted he bought us three new ones, now it sits in the cabin and never gets shot but it awlays the best gift we ever got.

PS he still has the frist one he bought.
