Brainerd Area

I have always done well between Brainerd and Aitkin. There are a few wild rice lakes there. There are also many small ponds in the county forests.

I am heading to the Brainerd area for the opener. I was wondering if anyone had any idea if there were birds in the area. And if any one had and places that might worth trying. I hope every one has a safe and fun opener!

Don't overlook Gull lake. The far south end of Margaret was FULL of woodies on Saturday. Also the far south end of Wilson bay can be very good as well as the small bay on the East side just before Steamboat bay. Edwards, Molly, Garden, Rice, Upper Dean as well as Upper and Lower Mission can all be fantastic. Do not overlook the river just North of town all the way up to the acess right by the small oxbow lake.
