mmeyer
I read a reply in the Tipup post here that mentioned the single hook configuration on page 9 of the regulations. I was hoping someone could clarify that this means exactly that we can use a treble hook on the end of the line without a bead or spinner. Also, would this mean that a person could tie on 3 single hooks at different depths as long as they are less than 9" apart? I know I can call my DNR office but I thought I'd check here first since it's the weekend. Thanks! Mike
Brad B
the thing you could do is to tye the hooks to their own line and then attach this to the main line. personally I think this does need to be further clarifeid in the reg book. My opinion is what is the difference if the hooks are on the main line and are less then 9 inches from first to last hook or on their own line then hooked to the main line. A CO might be worth talking to for their input on this. In that second picture it appears the three hooks are on the main line. I would have to think a single treble hook would be legal based on how the wording and picture is in the regulation book.second question of yours : the three hooks can only be no more then 9 inches from the first hook to the last hook. it is NOT up to 9" between each hook. mmeyer
second question of yours : the three hooks can only be no more then 9 inches from the first hook to the last hook. it is NOT up to 9" between each hook. Thanks, I missed that. It is a bit confusing isn't it? Could it be a snell with a treble hook attached? Anyone have any other thoughts? Brad B
yea a snell would technically make the treble hook like a single hook quick strike rig so how I read the thing from page 9 is that it would be legal. I was going to setup a couple of my tip ups so the main line was braid and then put a barrel swivel and attach a single treble to a 3 foot piece of flourocarbon line. crix
I would think I would be just fine to use 1 treble since for quick strikes we use 3 hooks in 1 big sucker but I have heard guys say they think they can use the 3 hook quickstrike style and 3 small live baits as long as all 3 are within 9" of each other... this is not the case you will get slammed for that

What makes you say that you will get slammed for that? It doesn't specify that you can't. Just looking for info. Thanks
