Agronomist_at_IA
WHen I have refilled the 1# I use the colemans there the only ones that seem to take a good fill and don't leak I have no problem finding good tanks to refill for 1# tanks. I was just wondering if they happen to make a 1# tank that is made to refill. I would think the valves/seals and everything would be a little heavier and worth the money. Look up a company called Manchester tank. They sell 1# tanks designed to be refilled.
Agronomist_at_IA
With the valve on them would you be able to use it on the equipment made for disposable 1# tanks.
tsande00
I'm not sure, I haven't seen one in person yet. Just been looking into them a bit. The idea of a safe refillable tank intrigues me. I can't believe we don't see more of these floating around from various manufacturers.
dfeste
Just looked at them on thier HSOforum. Great idea but I'm positive they won't fit into the Big Buddy. Would love to see something like that that would work though. I pay about $15 to get my 20 pounders filled so it would obviously be a lot cheaper in the long run. Provided the refillable didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Refilling them is easy, and I haven't had any trouble with the 1# tanks so far. However if I new there was a good quality refillible tank out there I'd buy 4 of them. Jeremy airjer W
I'm pretty sure the Manchester refillable one pound has the threads you need to run your equipment.
Jeremy airjer W
BTW, thank you for taking the time to research possibilities on doing things a better way!

It might have the threads, but with a little longer neck I don't know if it would fit like it is suppose to.
tsande00
Probably wouldn't work well for the buddy, as already mentioned, but might work OK for heater/cookers or propane lanterns.I wonder if a guy could adapt to a hose from the 1#er for the buddy? 2 or 3 one pounders would still beat lugging a 20# tank around. dfeste
That's a good idea tsande00. I would assume that Northern Tool would have all the parts needed since they have everything to fill the disposable ones up. You may also be able to adapt the quick connect hose for the 20lb tanks to work for this.
Gunflint Guy
They do make a hose that is all ready to go that would hook up to a #1 tank. Look for the one with the smooth round coupling on one end. I bought it accidentally when getting a hose for my 5lb tank. I suggest just getting a five lb tank to refill. Especially at the rate Heater/Cookers burn fuel.
