Hawg
Mine is a homemade permanant fishhouse. It's a few years old now and when I built it my floor joists are to close together and too close to the corners to accomodate Catch Covers or other commercial hole covers. I use 5 gal pails as hole liners. If I don't go to the house for a few days or move it drilling does make a wet mess. I really like the idea of the slush buckets but they also don't fit around my holes because again, they are in the corners of the house and too close to accomodate the commercial slush buckets. I've heard the rubbermaide totes are to floppy to work well, has anyone built one that works and how did you do it?
BigDogRob
I've got buckets also, the thing I am wondering is would it work to pull the buckets then drill? or maybe taking and cutting a bucket (1/3) length wise and setting it above the other so it shoots the snow in one direction then you could set a tote where the snow would land and though it would take awhile I would think it would work...either that or raise the house each time you need to re-drill. We could all find you on the lake though if your house was sitting on 2' of blocking.
Hawg
I do pull my buckets and it helps a lot but when the ice get a little thicker I would like to figure out something.
BigDogRob
I'll do some brainstorming with some buddies and see what we can think up. If nothing else it will be good for a laugh! Isn't that a good part of fishing anyways...lol
Hawg
It's the best part! We usually come up with a few million dollar ideas in my shack too, till a sober guy comes around and bursts our bubble.
BigDogRob
I can't wait for the first laser cutter that cuts the hole, absolutely any size you want or even shape. Then just need to carry a 5' pole to shove the blocks in or some device to pull the whole block up. Heck you could even split it in smaller chuncks for easier lifting for those with shoulder problems... here's to the future...lol
pikestabber
...or instead of a small laser beam for cutting a block out how about a big ol' beam that zaps perfect 8" or 10" holes. No slush, no mess, no blocks. I've wanted one of those since I was a kid.
