Public land near Shakopee to hunt deer with shotgun

I am looking for some public land that would be within an one hour drive from Shakopee that I could hunt deer with slugs. My nephew and I are new to the sport this year and we would like to get one more day in before the season is over.

There's a lot of pressure already on public land, enough that you're not going to see anyone, IMHO, pointing you to the best lands. During the already-short slug season, adding even a few extra people to some of these areas can make a big difference. So, it's not likely that you're going to get folks who hunt particular areas (and see deer) to say so here on a public forum.

Your best option is to utilize the multitude of governmental websites, many of which are available by just starting here:
