Big Volt Drill unit??

Did strikemaster change the drill unit on the Big Volt?

Online the description reads exactly like the chipper drill they use on the gas machines. Didn't they used to have some dual step drill unit which was only used on the big volt?

Anyone have any info?

Gus, I agree with you. Last year the big volt had a Red auger bit with 2 step chipper blade. The one on their HSOforum now appears to show the normal chipper bit that comes on the gas auger.

Cabelas online shows the old bit.

This year the Big Volt comes with a regular chipper blade. Also, the drill bit is black this year. With the poor wheel house ice conditions last year in the metro area there's a good chance you'll be able to find the stepped chipper blade in some retailers if that's what you're looking for.

Is there a big difference between how the regular and stepped chipper blade works? I would like to purchase one of these soon.

And another question would be if they decided to simplify production and go to a single chipper style, then how long do they intend to manufacture the 2 step chipper blades for the people that own that style.

Either or will work great! The two step chipper blades will be made for a while.
