Ice Rod Reel Seat

Hey fellas,

Two rods I'm building for christmas are ice rods and I'm a little unfamiliar with the sizing of reel seats for these rods. any recommendations? Thanks

If I use an actual seat I use a #16 skeleton seat. Normally I just use rings or tape on.

yep, i believe from what Ive found a 16 is gonna be the smallest you will find. Fill it in with one of the white arbors that you can find at any rod building outlet.

Jon, the best size reel seat to use is the one that best fits your customers hand. If they fish outside with big gloves on maybe a 16 is the way to go. But if they're in an ice house without gloves, maybe a 17 or 18 is better. I always keep a reel seat of each size on hand so the customer can decide for themselves which feels best to them.
