Fish House/Deer Shack

Hey guys, I know that all of you have a lot of knowledge about different topics that have to deal with either fishing or hunting. This is actually about a Deer Shack but it’s almost like an Ice House since it doesn’t have water or electricity.

My question is what’s the best solution for lighting? I have a 100lb tank for our heater but hate buying (5) 1lb tanks for the lanterns. I looked at Colman’s HSOforum and it looks like they produce at max about 1000 lumens. I got looking online last night and was wondering how well those RV lights work. Thinking with those I could just hook a battery up to it and not have to worry about it but then wondering how long the batter would last? Were there at maximum of 5 days in a row where we wouldn’t be able to charge the battery.

I was also wondering if buying the RV lights and then replacing them with LED bulbs would help on the lighting? I couldn’t find the Lumens on these RV lights. I found both dinette ones as well as the two lights with the switch in the middle.

I mentioned the 100lb tank thinking about buying the Base Camp or Paulin propane lights but with 60-90 bucks per one then all the fittings and copper its a little more than I wanted to spend but I know each light is approximently a 60 watt bulb.

Thanks Fellas!

RV Lights are not the ticket, Suck down battery and provide less light than LED Lights. This site has some of the best to offer. Or search other popular web site for thin lite. Thin-Lite 746 12 volt d.c. fluorescent .i have several. Also Low voltage fans now contain LED lights. I have several mounted in my FH to help move air down to floor and keep windows dry.good luck

Do a search on the popular auction site for 12v led ceiling lights. I bought some for $24.99 for a 6 1/2 by 14 wheel house and they are incredibly bright. I bought 3 for the house but could have easily gotten away with 2. They are 136 led and they are the double light so you can turn one side off or use both sides. Awesome lights in my opinion, and on a marine battery they will last a long time as they don't draw much.

Thanks for the replay guys. Couple questions/answers. What type of ceiling lights are you refer too did a search but couldn't find much. Also I have thought about the generator but just don't want to spend the money on one (I want a Honda) and the noise of others turns me away. We have gotten by this long doing it this way just want more efficient way of doing it. I have also looked on the action site but they are not 20 bucks for propane lights they are around 50 when the action is all done even in poor condition
