Natural gas + propane furnace?

For here I would think about one of those nat gas powered emergency generators if nat gas is available and I was worried about weeks without power. That or a diesel generator.

For Oakland and earthquakes, diesel or gasoline (since I don't know how hard it is to get propane out there) and make sure everything is solidly bolted down to a solid base, although if it hits that bad, electricity might be the least of his problems. Food, water, and looters would be higher on the list for me.
