Well, regardless if the difference doesn't immediately set upon us, it's all but guaranteed Ford know there is some difference, there somewhere, that is supposed to help. This I say because I know they're not going to spend all that money without someone making a pretty convincing case of a fix.

I can assure you it's not like someone just arbitrarily decides that Ford is going to replace the CAC on a pile of vehicles.

To me, it looks likes the purpose of that shield is to block some of the air through the CAC fins, almost like it cools too well and condenses the moisture right out of the intake air passing through it. Keep things a little warmer like putting a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator...

From the F150 forum site, someone says the new CAC has smaller tubes. This cuts down the cooling ability of the CAC and increases the air velocity in the tubes. The air doesn't cool as much so is less likely to form moisture, and the moisture that does form (think of it as dew in the tubes) is blown through the CAC instead of settling out and accumulating in CAC. I think that explanation means the problem just occurs at a slower speed, when the airflow in the CAC is slower and the moisture can again accumulate.
