Someone mentioned the availability of open water fishing during the winter months. I thought I would start a thread for the posting of these opportunities.

The northshore of Lake Superior provides an opportunity for Kamloops Trout (commonly known as "loopers". There are several locations near Duluth that will have a looper bite, but French River is the best known. Marine General located in Duluth can provide information on the necessary tackle need for catching some of these beautiful and tasty fish. This is basically shore fishing, but some people launch small boats off the shoreline.
