MUSKY18
So the fields around where I hunt are completely worked. Being that it was so dry and the crops came out very early this year, all of the corn fields, bean fields, and almost all other ag fields have already been turned over, plowed, disked, getting ready for next year. So how will this effect the deer and what they are feeding on? WIll they go back into the woods and try to find any left over acorns? Hit brown CRP and hay fields? I have one chunk of land I hunt that there was standing corn left for the wildlife, but its in the open with nothing around it for cover to get a stand or even a ground blind into. SO what are the deers likely to start eating now?
CrewJones
the small buck that was in last night was eating the buds of new growth, he would nibble on some existing leaves and that was about it
Stratosman
Where I hunt, farmers typically don't turn over the bean fields so the deer pound them all winter long, that and alfalfa fields have had deer on them all week. Acorns are typically gone this time of year, for my areas anyway...
