airdriver
Thought about driving down and trying this lake. My questions is a part of it is a WMA and other parts are WPA, some parts are neither. Regs State no motors on both WMA, WPA. So, can you run a motor on this lake? Map doesn't really show either WMA or WPA areas on the water, just next to it. Also, what about ice, looks shallow, so early freeze? Waiting for CO to call back. Don't want to waste an hour drive. Thanks.
Ice em
You can use a motor, just launch at the main boat launch. and yes it freezes quickly in some of the bays but is a large body of water, so i wouldn't worry about that yet. also alot of traffic there so you should have no problem getting out to the main part of the lake. BartmanMN
I've only seen very thin skim ice on other small lakes in wright county, but it is usually gone by afternoon. You don't need to worry about ice out there yet.Motors are fine.
RuddyDuck
Like others have said your best option is to land at the main launch on the west side if you have a boat and trailer. The east side does have a few spots where you can wade in from or launch a small craft from also. Should be fine as far as ice goes for a week or two yet. I would also recommend doing an evening or day hunt if it is your first time out there. There are a few shallow areas with rocks and stumps out there and it is a pretty big lake that can get rough with a stiff wind. But if you want to hit it in the morning, if you take it slow and have a good light you should be fine. I was out last weekend and had some decent luck out there, should be some birds around this weekend. Good luck.
