I ordered my new fish house and am looking forward to finishing it! One of my questions now is what should i finish the walls and ceiling with?

I need about 800 square feet to finish the walls and ceiling (8x30 house)

Pine will run me about $900 ($1.12 per sq ft) Cedar: $2500 ($3.08 Sq Ft)

any other suggestions or alternatives? These prices were from menards at this point im leaning towards pine but i am not oposed to other alternatives.

Looks good! I should have under $1k into it if i do the cedar paneling like that. I think that I am going to also put about 100-200 12volt LED lights in the ceiling as well as hole lights and etc.

I absolutely cannot wait to get it here so i can start working on it! I am looking at using furniture from Blazin Bell Tech

This would give me alot of flexibility and i could install quite a few holes (16 possibly) I am debating installing two sets of bunk beds in the rear rather than a dinette. I could use one of the foldup dinettes in the front of the house which would also provide a nice layout i think

The bunk beds that they carry are like the ones Portavilla has in their houses, gotta tell you they are really comfortable. I can't take those skinny little 4" mattresses, when I finished mine I bought a queen size 8" memory foam mattress and cut it into 2 30" x 72" mattresses. They are very comfortable. If I did it again I would have taken them to a pro to cut for me, they were a hassle cutting them.

I used a minwax polycrylic, clean up with soap and water is nice. not too smelly either. comes in 3 finishes. i did a sation gloss. i think it turned out good. its not suppose to yellow. it did get a bit darker but really brought out the color of the wood nicely.

How thick is that paneling? It looks like it's very heavy. I know were not putting these things on 2 inches of ice anymore but I have friends that can't go on less than 10-12. Around here the best fishing is over. But with a 30 foot house you won't be real early either. What do you consider safe with a house that big? My 6 x 8 wheelhouse with a 3 ft nose goes out on 5 inches.

TG, thats a nice looking house. Is your top bunk just a 3/4 in piece of plywood spanning the distance? No supports, just plywood? I'm building bunks and I know I'm going to overbuild them, I always do.

I know that wouldn't hold my weight, I built my top bunk with 2x3's cause both my hubby and I are hefty.

Lambjm, I would'nt look forward to climbing up there either but I bet 3/4 plywood with aluminum or light steel u channel around it would as strong as yours. I only have a 6 x 8 so I'm looking to save an inch where I can. Darn cot leg fell in a hole last year, not fun.

The paneling I have is 1/4" thick.
