Lindy rig with Minnows?

How do you rig a minnow on a lindy? I am assuming just through the lip, or more? Is there a worry about making sure the minnow is upright? I am assuming so? The hook end should be on top right? And is it any different with a spinner, or do most people not use spinners with a minnow? Hoping to get out looking for some fall eyes over the next couple weeks!

Through the lips or tail...the minnow should be able to swim freely (besides the hook through it's tail or lips)

I use a spinner +minnow, or leech, or crawler when moving around trying to locate fish, once I find them I usually switch to a lindy and slow down my speed from .8mph-1.5mph down to .5mph or even at a standstill letting the minnow swim and move around naturally.

Mono for the leader? I was using floro and noticed my minnow had mud on the bottom. Thus I think it was hiding instead of swimming. Floro sinks so it couldn't handle the weight I guess, or just a smart minnow trying to survive.

Through the top lip for me. The more movement, the better. Also like mentioned above, lightest line, weight, etc for the situation really improves the action of the minnow. Like everything fishing related, some days it doesn't matter what you do. However, when the bite is tough, small details add up.
