Ducks in the fields

When will ducks starting going into fields more to feed? I have a field they visited last year and I wanna hunt it soon. Any ideas?

In my area mallards won't hit the corn until about the last half of November. I have seen them as earliest as the last weekend in October.

I have shot ducks on opening weekend in wheat stubble or bean fields in the past and always had ducks in fields when out goose hunting during the early season. So I assume location varies but if you put miles and miles or few you'll find some ducks in a field... Might be tough but they're out there.

Wood ducks were hitting wheat late august already; been seeing good numbers of mallards lately in corn too. All depends on the birds and what's available for food.

Found a bean cut field with good numbers of woodies and some mallards in it tonight. Hopefully I'll be hunting there this weekend.
