Safety Strap Not Long Enough...

... the one that goes around the tree. It just barely doesn't make it. I've never had that happen and I've put the ladder stand in a narly old tree with good cover this past week. In fact, I'm going to have to trim a few branches my first time out in it probably. Forgot the saw when I went. Anyway, never had this happen before and thought about just rigging up my own with some heavy duty rope, secure knots and a loop to hook by harness onto. But are there products out there that are better or has anyone rigged a couple of straps together? Would be interested to see what others do?

i have used a heavy duty rope with loops in both ends. wrapped it around the tree and passed on loop through the other and created a synch around the tree. tested it with my weight works well and its easy to remove when you leave, or just leave it on the tree

Thanks guys. I also have one of those lifelines in the closet. I was thinking I might just use that. It is a ladder stand but you could just run the rope loosely alongside the ladder then. The main thing is having that firm connection at the top.
