Sandhill Crane hunting

Recommended Posts

Looking for someone or a party to hunt sandhills with me. I'm an experienced goose and turkey guy but I want to learn sandhills. I am flexible in terms of dates. I have a MN sandhill tag, but I'm willing and able to go to ND or elsewhere. I have three decoys. If you know of a reasonably priced guide, that works too.

Thanks for any contacts you may have. You can respond here or call/text me.

I don't know how guys hunt them, but I hear them all the time while I am deer hunting over in Wisconsin. They sit out in the open fields all day. Make a hack of a racket too. Maybe you can sneak them if they are in tall enough grass. I've never seen them do enough flying to reliably decoy them unless you know what field they like to sit in during the day, and if they leave at night you could set up and wait for them to come back in the mornings.
