let me first start off with saying its not a canoe, it’s a guide boat. Do a Google search on Adirondack Guide Boat and read all about them, you will want one too.

I really don’t remember the total cost, probably around $1000 - $1500, there are a lot of variables, mostly depends on how you get the strips, I cut, planed and routed my own. The nice thing is you can space out the cost and buy the materials as you need them.

I would love to build one to sell but I only have a one stall garage and it has 16’ aluminum boat with my wooden boat stacked on top of it so I just do not have the room.

I would encourage anyone to build one, I started in January and finished in September. It is not hard, lot of steps along the way that show big progress so it keeps you motivated. I am in no way a perfectionist and it turned out really nice.

The performance of the boat is awesome, Very stable, very fast. I can row it with my wife just chilling in the back on her easy chair faster than any 2 man paddle team in a canoe.

Here is a link to the plans I used. http://www.sandypointboatworks.com/adirondack.html

Not endorsing them, its just who I went with.

But I cannot stress enough how easy it was, the sanding gets old, but other than that it was very enjoyable, and to take out a boat you built is a lot of fun.

Here are a couple pictures of the process.
