JohnMickish
Have any of you guys had any success getting 10" Jake to not run so deep? Can I just trim some off the bill to do the job? How much bill should I trim to make it run about 3' deep casting? Maybe someone makes a bait with that wonderful action that dosen't go so deep?Help me out guys, the lake I like to fish is just to weedy right now.Thanks.------------------It still beats workin'
squeedunk
I have a 10" Jake that I used a trick I saw in In-fisherman on. There is a bump on the underside of the lip that the eye is connected to, that is a good guide to bend the lip. Use a hacksaw on the top side of the lip opposite the bump to make a little groove. then, using a lighter and a pliars bend the lip on that groove. It ends up looking like a lip on a shallow shad rap or muskie sized super shad rap. If you heat up the plastic lip under the groove from the hacksaw enough it bends easily. I am sure this is a horrible explaination on how to do this but I can't think of any other way. It worked great on my jake-it has the same action but runs a few feet shallower. The best description I can give is that it looks like the lip on a shallow shad rap. If a better description comes to my mind i will try this again.~Squeedunk
squeedunk
Oh yeah, and Grandma's seem to run a bit shallower without any messing around with the lure. I have had much better success with them anyways.`squee
