Hunting public land

ok i down live far from a wildlife mangement area and i was wondering how good is the hunting usualy on public land ? and do i have to get permision it has signs that says open to public and it says the reglations on it you can hunt deer with bow and turkey and you can also hunt small game so i was thinking about getting a small game license and just giving it a try see how i do at squirrel hunting.

You do not need permission if it say open to puplic hunting.

follow the rules and you should be fine if yo have any doubt contact the Conservation Officer for that area.

It sounds like it's a Wildlife Management Area or WMA. When the regulations come out in a couple of weeks read over them completely. Pay close attention to the page that covers WMA specific rules. WMA's are generally very hunter friendly.

I think I have a good idea which one you are talking about. Pay attention to the rules and the WMA boundaries. Most people avoid that one due to the terrain so you have a good chance of having places to roam.
