Travel/Carrying Case for Cobra Hand-Held Marine Radio

vman11

Question

I have a Cobra handheld marine radio that I would like to get a protective case for when traveling to/from the lake. I tried a quick Google search but didn't find anything specific. The Cobra site didn't have anything specific either.

My next step is to go to a big box store and find a camera carrying case that will fit the reciever, charger and all of the cords. Before I do that I wanted to see if others have come up with anything that works nicely.

A great case is a Pelican. They are not cheap but they are waterproof and you can get them were you pull out squares of foam to fit what ever you want to protect. You want something like a 1200 or 1300 as far as size. It will cost right around $40.00. If you do a search you will find a few sites that you can compare prices to get the best deal.

I have had many handhelds over the years and still have several. Once upon a time they cost $300-$400 plus, now they can be had for less than $100 or slightly more. It seems to be slightly overkill to spend 40% of the cost of a new radio on a case. I have found them to be extremely durable, I have a 15-20 year old Standard lying in the door of the pickup all the time and its no worse for wear and works all the time. A Crown Royal bag would work well and it comes with a bottle for about the same money.
