Lowrance LCX 111 HD temperature reading problem

Muskie maniac

Question

I recently move my LCX unit to my new boat and the transducer/temperature sensor isn't working properly. I'm getting water temps between 40-45 degrees F when the water temps are in the 70s. The temp sensor is picking up changes in temp as I move over different depths and bottoms but it is off by about 30 degrees. My unit has the dual 50/200 transducer with the speed wheel. Any ideas what the problem may be? Is my transducer bad? I've got all software updates and have attempted a soft reset. Should I try a hard reset? Thanks for your help!

This might be a stupid question, but does your transducer have a little gold colored temp sensor on the bottom of it? Some units will default to display the temp reading even if there is not a sensor on the transducer. You can also purchase an external sensor for your boat that plugs into the lowrancenet system, which is a lot cheaper than a new transducer if your depth readings are fine.
