Local Merc repair shop

Big Jeff

Question

I had the 1998 merc 135 go beep beep beep over the weekend and I have narrowed it down to oil pump, Module or float sensor. I am not sure what they will let people post on here as far as good or bad service so please pm me if you think it might be edited out. I live in St. Paul and I know there a couple places around but looking for great service and it seems hard to find.

Thanks

The beep beep beep code is low oil, it is realitively easy to isolate the module or the sensor. I believe the wires for the oil sensor are lt blue and the connectors to the module are near the module. Just unplug one lead, if the alarm goes away it is the sensor, if not the module.

Either is easy to replace.

Good Luck.

I can't recall if it is a solid tone or beeps, but I believe it is the same tone as a low oil beep that I am thinking of. It could just be water in your fuel water separator.

Take the cowl off, turn the key on, and if there is a little red light that is on, that is water in the fuel water separator filter. If there is no red light on, then carry on with what you are doing. If there is a red light on, then empty the filter, put it back on, and repeat until you no longer have water in fuel. Then replace filter.

That is assuming your 135 is an efi, not an Optimax. If Optimax, then my advice is likely moot. Good luck!
