Moose River Trail

Hoping someone can help me out here?

Looking into heading up the Soo line from Mcgregor and go into the the Moose River Trails. Kids what to haul a tent and stay over night.

Questions:

Can class II utv's ride in there and get there from the Soo line?

Are the campground nice and how busy would they get midweek?

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

I dont think there is a connecting trail from one to the other although you could probably find your way on dirt roads. Both trails show they are ok for Class II ATVs. But..... the biggest problem you'll have to start with is that ALL trails in Aitkin county are closed until further notice due to the flooding. Even the Soo Line is listed as closed with no approximate opening date.

Sorry.... frown

I hunt back in there a bit in fall, but have not camped there. The campsites are pretty decent from what I can tell, but many/most are pretty much "set up by historical usage" and not like state park campsites. Meaning not tables, grills, etc. by many or even any possibly, I can't recall. I think I recall seeing a biffy or two, but not sure on that. So I guess I would call them primitive, but easy enough that people can back in their fifth wheels in the spots pretty easy. There are a couple overlooking small lakes that are pretty nice.

Have fun!
