Minnetonka Bowfishing?

Recommended Posts

I was under the impression its not legal to shoot a bow all around the lake. I have seen someone bowfishing from shore along a busy road on Minnetonka a couple times this year so far. Also saw a pic in the outdoors news with someone with carp shot on Minnetonka. Is it legal? did something change? anyone know?

You would have to check with each city if you are thinking of bow fishing from shore. There are some cities that prohibit bow fishing through a city ordinance. There are other cities that do not prohibit bow fishing from shore. I know that in Minnetrista it is legal to bow fish from shore.

My mech ran a bow carp tourney on Tonka this spring. There's one city they needed to get a permit for so they stayed away from that bay. Somewhere on the north side, but don't recall which one. Otherwise the rest of the lake is legal.

Call the Tonka water patrol - they should know.
