So much ice fishing gear still on the store websites

It appears as though last year's dismal season meant many stores were left with too much merchandise they could not sell. I can't remember so much ice fishing gear left on the various sites of the big retailers this long after the season was over. I got a great deal on an auger late winter and some other stuff in the big C retail store, but thinking about taking another walk through the sites for a suit and some other things. GM alone has a ton of stuff on clearance. Red Rocks has a lot as well. Some stores obviously keep ice fishing gear in stock online all year at normal prices, but others you can tell are just trying to offload the unsold merchandise from last year.

I just hope that the stores don't under order for next year so that everything sells out early when it turns out to be a great year for ice fishing.

Cabelas in Rogers still has an ice fishing section back by the boats. I can't recall ever seeing an entire wall dedicated to ice fishing during the Summer there. I did not look to see if there was any deals to be had.

Exactly! I don't remember ever seeing this either. Was just there yesterday and there are some deals to be had depending on what you're looking for, but discounts aren't too dramatic. Expect to see the same inventory in the fall at regular prices again though.

Yeah, I wonder how long the discounts will last, at least in the big box stores. Online stuff might be different. But here in MN you're never too far away from the ice fishing season, and I imagine lots of that gear will be back on the shelves at regular price or maybe with a slight markdown.
