uzbucket
Well - worst fear trailering happened: got hit by a distracted driver.... Lund explorer with a 4 stroke 115 Merc vs. Honda CRV with young driver who has hit before. The light turned green and she just went versus watching the car in front (me). After a visual inspection, I can't see anything wrong. Also had the dealer take a look at everything and got a clean bill of health from them other than the stainless prop is getting a once over. Output shaft and all other parts of the lower unit are scratch free and straight but the transom saver got bent pretty good but I was able to fix that.Car had about 3000 in damage from what we could tell, but I'm just worried about hidden damage on my rig.Transom is solid and flat, the motor mounts and such never moved, the skeg and lower unit are all still true.Did a full shakedown today with my spare prop and all is well, but who truly knows?!? Any other places I should be looking or?? I'll be calling my insurance company tomorrow just in case and the father of the young driver seems like a standup guy and will pay for the damages if any are found, I just don't want to find something 3 months down the road....Anyone have any advice?ThanksTed
TruthWalleyes
Any new leaks in the boat? Stresses seams? Kinks in the trailer frame?Hit while trailering is one of my worst fears!!! Hard to go fishing with a car hood on your skeg!!
tacklejunkie
Hit while trailering is one of my worst fears!!! Hard to go fishing with a car hood on your skeg!! Could work as an oversized trolling plate. If you took it to a pro and he gave you the ok, you should be alright

Bobby Bass
I would look over the trailer all the way up to the ball, make sure nothing got bent, all that energy had to go somewhere, It does sound like your motor toter took it.
uzbucket
Trailer and everything related looks good - hitch, etc... The Yellow plastic roller on the Trailer (Shorelander) has a new notch on it where the front eye on the hull banged it, but nothing is bent there or anywhere else on the trailer. Thanks for all the other replies guys - sets this fisherman (and his wife) at ease. If anyone thinks of anything else, just post er here.Ted
lakevet
If everything checks out I would run her hard as much as you can to see if anything develops. Better to have problems now instead of babying it and having it show up later.lakevet
TooTallTom
If the transom saver got bent, that means that the motor moved as it got hit (assuming the motor got hit). How are the tilt/ trim hydraulics? Any leaks? And no stress signs where the motor mounts to the transom? (Sounds like there aren't, just making sure.) As has been said, taking it to a pro was the right thing to do. Now, just keep an eye on it (like you're doing) and deal with any issues if they come up (hopefully not). But don't forget to put it out of your mind and enjoy the boat, either.
