Rod building class

We have finally scheduled a rod building class with Gary Wicks up in Anoka at the end of this month. Gary sounds like a really nice guy after a couple different conversations over the phone.

Can't wait to take this class. Let the addiction begin.

Gary is a great teacher. I took his class that he had throught the monticello community ed this past december. I have now built 6 rods since then. He has probably the best prices on components as he has been a components distributor for 30 plus years.

do you have a idea of what you want to build for your first rod.

yes it does get addicting. I have plans for some catfish rods, a ultra light, 3 casting rods, & 5 spinning rods. As I get these built my store bought rods will go up for sale. I also have a idea for the ultimate high end ice rod(if I build it how I am thinking I will have $100.00 plus into this 26" ice rod. solid carbon blank, recoil guides, solid walnut or cedar handle, & the trip wire spring bobber from thorne)

Gary offers one on one classes right at his place. the best is to call him and set something up. his schedule is very flexible and he works with you to find the best time. PM me and I can give you his number and address.

Brad B beat me too it. He schedules them for around your schedule. We are doing it on a weekday and it sounds like it will be my girlfriend and I at the class. Which is what I was looking for so you get a little more one on one time. Has been great to work with on the phone.

He said his weekends are pretty much booked up through out the summer with classes also. I think they are community classes but not sure.

Gary's class was awesome! If yo uplasn on getting into building I would highly recommend it. It is addicting though watch out, sense his class I'm on my 10th rod now!
