MN Map chip for older Lowrance GPS?

guyonacouch

Question

When I bought my boat this spring, it came with a Lowrance Global Maps 3200 GPS - I'm assuming it's a 2002-2003 model. The previous owner took the contour map chip out and I'm considering either just replacing the unit with my handheld Garmin that I already have a chip for or purchasing a map chip for the Lowrance. Only real benefits of using the Lowrance is a larger screen and the fact that it displays your speed while the map is up which is nice for trolling. Can I use a new chip in this unit or would I have to track down an older chip? Anyone have an older one they'd be willing to part with that they no longer use? Thanks.

I don't see why you couldn't use a new chip, but it would have to be Navionics. Lakemaster only supplies chips for Humminbird now.

An older chip would be a great way to go. Check the auction site. As long as the lakes you fish are on the older chip you would save some cash.
